The Orbit Simulator is a very handy application for earth and planetary science teachers to give students a more accurate perspective of how the planets move around the sun. There are basic standards of measurement based on the earth's orbit. One (1) astronautical unit (AU) is based on the average distance of the earth from the sun. Also, inclination or tilt of a planet's orbit is relative to the earth's orbit of the sun. The application allows you to speed up or slow down the simulation, or to zoom in or out for a closer look at an individual planet.
